Hays is currently recruiting a Senior Commercial Advisor for the Australian Submarine Company who has been selected to deliver a $12B defence project in Henderson, WA.

If you have 6+ years experience in Commercial Advisory on heavy engineering or defence projects, this could be for you.

Your new role

The Senior Commercial Advisor will support the Commercial team in providing contract and commercial advice, guidance and capability to the Nuclear Submarine Sustainment Programme, the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

• Provide contractual and commercial advice and guidance

• Prepare commercial related documents for submission to the client

• Support the programme to navigate complex contract management

• Draft and negotiate contracts with head contractors for licencing, leasing and training

• Develop and manage contract change proposals

• Advice on supply chain and supporting

• Analyse commercial amendments and implications

• Review contract renewals

• Negotiation

• Commercial advice on subcontractor compliance to the head contractor

• Delivery of the contractual obligations

• Resolution of issues and will require an ability to simply communicate complex issues.

What you'll need to succeed

• At least 6 years experience in a similar position preparing contracts for heavy engineering or defence

• Bachelors in law, engineering or similar studies
• Ability to resolve commercial contractual issues
• Develop and amend contractual terms and conditions
• Financial confidence and attention to detail
