Your new role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Waste & Resource Recovery Officer to join a collaborative team responsible for delivering high-quality waste services and environmental programs to the community.
Reporting to the Team Leader Waste and Resource Recovery, you will play a key role in improving waste services, supporting contract management, driving process improvements, managing operational data, and contributing to strategic waste reduction and recycling initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery
- Develop and deliver programs that reduce waste, increase recycling, minimise contamination, and reduce litter.
- Support the design and implementation of improved waste and resource recovery services.
- Manage customer service requests and ensure timely resolutions through Council systems.
- Collate, analyse, and report on waste collection and operational data.
- Coordinate waste collection schedules, service information, and performance reporting.
- Assist with contract administration, transaction reconciliation, procurement, and budget reporting.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Waste and Resource Recovery team.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Review and improve systems, processes, and workflows to enhance service delivery and efficiency.
- Support policy development, system upgrades, user testing, and staff training.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Manage purchase orders, invoices, and procurement processes.
- Participate in audits and implement continuous improvement actions.
- Monitor and update waste management information across digital platforms and webpages.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with contractors, community members, government agencies, and internal stakeholders.
- Support the successful delivery of waste and resource recovery projects and initiatives.
- Contribute to customer satisfaction, performance monitoring, and reporting outcomes.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a proactive and customer-focused professional with experience in waste management, resource recovery, project coordination, or a related field.
To be successful, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications or demonstrated experience in Waste Management, Waste Education, Environmental Services, or Project Management.
- Experience delivering process improvement initiatives and consulting with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Strong contract administration and problem-solving skills.
- A customer-focused approach with the ability to resolve complex operational issues.
- Experience managing data, reporting, procurement, and financial administration processes.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and quality outcomes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business management systems.
