Your new role

Reporting to the Team Leader, Environmental Audit, you’ll:

  • Provide specialist advice on contaminated land and use your knowledge and expertise to conduct quality assurance reviews of audit reports containing complex technical scientific information and processes.
  • Deal with highly complex or sensitive scientific information regarding site remediation and management
  • Deliver the Environmental Audit program, including the review of the scope of audits and preliminary risk screen assessments submitted prior to audits.
  • Ensure compliance with audit conditions consistent with the requirements of the Environment Protection Act 2017 (e.g. notification of audit, provision of statements, notification of imminent state of danger)

What you'll need to succeed

As well as holding tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline, you'll have:
  • Experience in a similar government and/or private sector role related to process quality assurance, landfill management, contaminated land, and/or risks to human health and the environment.
  • An understanding of EPA Victoria's regulation of landfill operations.
  • Specialist technical expertise in contaminated land and groundwater remediation processes, as well as the management of pollution from industrial sources.
  • A sound understanding of the Environment Protection Act 2017 and associated regulations.
  • The ability to interpret and apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting requirements, and procedures.
