Policy Officer – NV1 Clearance

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Policy Officer with a strong background in policy development, analysis, and stakeholder engagement to join a Canberra-based organisation in a permanent capacity. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional who can translate complex information into clear, practical policy advice and deliver high-quality written products.

Your new role

Reporting to senior leadership, you will:

  • Lead the research, development, review, and implementation of policies and frameworks.
  • Prepare high-quality policy papers, briefs, submissions, ministerial correspondence, and reports.
  • Analyse complex legislative, regulatory, and strategic issues to inform decision-making.
  • Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support policy outcomes.
  • Contribute to governance, risk, and compliance activities as required.
  • Provide timely and well-researched advice to senior executives.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Demonstrated experience in policy development, policy analysis, and policy writing.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to produce concise and influential policy documents.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and consultation skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes.
  • Current NV2 Security Clearance (essential).
