Lead Environmental Compliance for One of Australia’s Most Complex Operational Environments.
Hays is proud to be partnering with a nationally significant organisation seeking an experienced Manager, Environmental Compliance & Sustainability to lead environmental compliance, sustainability strategy, and regulatory engagement across a highly regulated operating environment. This will be a Six-Month contract role with the potential to extend.
Your new role
Reporting within the Regulatory & Governance function, this role will act as the senior environmental advisor to executive leadership, providing strategic guidance on environmental performance, compliance obligations, sustainability initiatives, and risk management. The position offers a unique opportunity to influence organisational environmental outcomes while working closely with regulators, executive stakeholders, and operational leaders.
You will be responsible for developing and enhancing environmental compliance frameworks, leading sustainability initiatives, managing regulatory relationships, and ensuring the organisation meets its environmental and statutory obligations. The role will also provide regular reporting and assurance to senior executives and the Board on environmental performance, risks, and opportunities.
What you'll need to succeed Develop and maintain enterprise-wide environmental compliance frameworks.
Provide expert environmental compliance and sustainability advice across the organisation.
Lead engagement with environmental regulators and external stakeholders.
Prepare Board and Executive reports on environmental performance, compliance risks, and opportunities.
Drive implementation and continuous improvement of the Environmental Sustainability Strategy.
Manage statutory environmental reporting requirements, including obligations under relevant environmental legislation.
Promote a strong culture of environmental stewardship and sustainability.
What you'll get in return Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Management or a related discipline (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded).
Significant experience within environmental management, sustainability, regulatory compliance, or environmental policy environments.
Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance frameworks.
Demonstrated experience implementing and improving environmental management systems and governance frameworks.
High-level stakeholder engagement, influencing, and negotiation skills.
Proven ability to deliver strategic initiatives and drive organisational change.
