Job description

Your new company

This Government agency plays a key role in delivering nationally significant programs that support the integrity, accessibility and ongoing improvement of Australia’s aged care system. Working at the intersection of policy, program delivery and assurance, the team is focused on ensuring services are equitable, evidence-based and aligned with regulatory and community expectations.

Your new role

The agency is seeking to fill positions at the APS6 and EL1 level. In these roles, you will oversee the delivery of a specific Government Program, ensuring assessments are conducted consistently, defensibly and in line with an established framework.
You will manage complex and sensitive assessments, provide technical guidance to assessors and take ownership of quality assurance processes before outcomes are presented for decision. In addition, you will:

  • Lead end-to-end assessment and quality assurance activities
  • Provide oversight of workflow, workload planning and risk identification
  • Interpret complex evidence and apply structured frameworks to high-risk cases
  • Prepare clear, evidence-based written advice, recommendations and decision documentation
  • Supervise and support assessors, including coaching and performance feedback
  • Manage Requests for Information processes and stakeholder engagement
  • Oversee data management, reporting and system recordkeeping
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through process refinement and SOP updates
This role operates with a high level of autonomy and requires strong judgement in managing sensitive and complex matters.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Experience from within the APS in assessment, assurance, compliance or regulatory environments
  • Security requirement: Baseline Security Clearance
  • Proven ability to manage or quality assure complex assessment processes
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret detailed documentary evidence
  • Excellent written communication skills, with experience preparing defensible recommendations and reports
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including mentoring or supervising staff
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment
  • Experience with case management systems and data/reporting processes
  • Sound judgement and decision-making skills in sensitive or high-risk scenarios
  • Ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders

What you'll get in return

  • The opportunity to step into a senior, high-impact role influencing program integrity and outcomes
  • A collaborative and purpose-driven team environment
  • Exposure to complex and meaningful work within a nationally significant sector
  • The chance to shape processes, mentor others and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Competitive remuneration aligned with experience
If you're looking to take the next step in a senior assessment and program management role where your expertise will directly contribute to quality outcomes and system integrity, this opportunity provides both challenge and meaningful impact.
