An opportunity is available for an experienced Permit Room Officer to join a busy safety team supporting operations within a large industrial environment. This role will suit a safety-focused administrator with strong attention to detail and experience working with permit systems, compliance processes, or operational safety procedures.


Based in Fremantle, this position offers a short-term assignment through to 30 November 2026, working Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work as required.


Your new role

Reporting to the Safety Coordinator, you will play a key role in coordinating permit processes and supporting site safety compliance activities.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing and administering the Permit to Work (PTW) system
  • Reviewing permits and supporting documentation to ensure work is authorised and compliant
  • Coordinating high-risk work permits, isolations and lockout processes
  • Conducting site inspections to verify permit requirements and workplace readiness
  • Maintaining accurate permit records and documentation
  • Supporting compliance with safety policies, procedures and legislative requirements
  • Assisting with safety administration and training initiatives as required
  • Liaising with contractors, operational teams and stakeholders regarding permit requirements

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience issuing permits to work (highly desirable)
  • Alternatively, strong experience with systems administration, compliance or operational coordination
  • Knowledge of Work Health and Safety practices within industrial, mining, logistics, construction or heavy industry environments
  • Understanding of WA WHS legislation and safety requirements (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills across Microsoft Office and business systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
