Job description
Your new company
Join a highly respected defence‑sector engineering organisation offering exceptional visibility, genuine variety and the chance to avoid ever being pigeon‑holed. This is a place where engineers gain exposure across the full systems engineering lifecycle, supported by strong leadership, structured development pathways and a family‑style culture — all while contributing to globally deployed, mission‑critical projects.
You’ll be part of a team that values mentorship, collaboration and long‑term career growth. Whether you’re an experienced Senior Systems Engineer or a capable Systems Engineer ready to step up, this environment gives you the support, training and opportunities to lead projects and guide junior engineers as your career evolves.
Contract or permanent pathways are available.
Your new role
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll work across the complete systems engineering lifecycle — from requirements analysis and system design through to integration, testing, documentation and customer engagement for Electronic & Communication Systems and products. You’ll take ownership of engineering activities, contribute to system architecture decisions, and play a key role in delivering complex, multi‑disciplinary defence solutions.
You’ll also have the opportunity to develop into a project‑leading role, overseeing engineering work packages with the support of junior engineers.
Key responsibilities include:
Requirements management, traceability and documentation
System design, interface definition and engineering artefact creation
Verification & validation activities across multiple test phases
Hardware and software integration, including third‑party subsystems
Linux‑based system configuration and troubleshooting
Electronics‑focused system analysis and integration
Customer engagement, training and occasional travel
Acting as Lead Systems Engineer on assigned projects (or developing into this role)
What you'll need to succeed
Systems Engineering experience within the Defence industry
NV1 security clearance
Electronics & Linux experience
Experience across requirements, design, V&V and multi‑disciplinary engineering environments
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
Engineering degree in Electronics, Communications, Mechatronics or similar
Contractors and permanent candidates will both be considered — the priority is finding the right engineer with the right defence background and technical capability.
What you'll get in return
Step into a defence‑sector role that gives you real visibility, genuine variety and the freedom to avoid ever being boxed into one niche. You’ll work across the full systems engineering lifecycle, gaining hands‑on exposure to requirements, design, integration, testing and project leadership.
You’ll be supported by exceptional leaders, strong mentorship and a family‑style culture — all while contributing to globally deployed, mission‑critical systems. Expect structured training, professional development, and a clear pathway to leading your own projects with junior engineers backing you.
Whether you’re an experienced Senior Systems Engineer or ready to step up into that level, this role offers long‑term stability, growth, and the chance to shape your career in a high‑impact environment.
Contract or Permanent options available
