Job description

Your new company

Join a growing Australian defence technology organisation delivering complex engineering programs that support critical Defence capabilities. With a strong focus on innovation, quality, and project excellence, this organisation offers the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of sophisticated systems within a highly collaborative environment.

Your new role

As a Configuration Management Officer, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering Configuration Management (CM) activities across the full project lifecycle. Acting as the primary point of contact for CM-related matters, you will ensure configuration control processes are effectively implemented and maintained while supporting engineering, project, and quality teams.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and maintaining Configuration Management plans, policies, procedures, and associated documentation.
  • Managing day-to-day CM activities and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  • Establishing and maintaining product baselines, product hierarchies, and configuration records.
  • Coordinating Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities, including meeting organisation, documentation, and change control processes.
  • Managing asset registers, configuration status accounting, and product identification systems.
  • Conducting audits to verify compliance and baseline integrity.
  • Supporting supplier data delivery requirements and assessing configuration data packages.
  • Tracking CM metrics and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Working closely with Engineering, Project Management, Quality, and external stakeholders to ensure configuration integrity throughout program delivery.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Experience establishing and maintaining Configuration Management systems and supporting tools.
  • At least 2 years' experience working with commercial or mature CM tools.
  • Experience applying Configuration Management principles within an engineering or project lifecycle environment.
  • Experience supporting the delivery of complex systems, ideally including software-based products.
  • Strong understanding of configuration control, baseline management, change management, and compliance processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A structured, analytical, and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Defence industry experience and relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded.

What you'll get in return

In return, you'll secure a rewarding opportunity to work on complex Defence projects within a supportive and technically focused environment. You'll have the chance to further develop your Configuration Management expertise while contributing to critical national capability programs, with long-term career growth and exposure to leading-edge engineering projects.
