Your new role

Due to continued growth at the company, an exciting opportunity has become available for a Switchboard Estimator & Electrical Design Engineer to become a key member of the engineering team. This is a senior technical role where you'll lead the design and costing of complex switchboard projects, working closely with customers, project managers, production teams and suppliers to develop innovative engineering solutions from concept through to manufacture. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being involved in the front-end engineering of projects—reviewing specifications, developing switchboard designs, solving technical challenges and preparing accurate estimates that set projects up for success. Rather than simply pricing jobs, you'll play a critical role in determining how projects are engineered, designed and ultimately delivered.

Electrical Design & Engineering

• Develop LV switchboard, MCC and control panel designs to meet client specifications.
• Review electrical drawings, functional descriptions and tender documentation.
• Produce and review single-line diagrams, general arrangement drawings and system layouts.
• Select appropriate switchgear, protection devices, busbar systems and ancillary equipment.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant Australian Standards and client requirements.
• Support project delivery teams throughout manufacturing, FAT and commissioning stages.

Estimating & Tendering

• Lead preparation of detailed tenders and quotations for switchboard and control system projects.
• Complete material take-offs and labour calculations.
• Obtain supplier pricing and evaluate technical submissions.
• Assess project risks, technical requirements and commercial opportunities.
• Develop competitive pricing strategies while maintaining technical integrity.
• Present engineered solutions to clients and stakeholders.

What you'll need to succeed

• Degree or Diploma qualification in Electrical Engineering or relevant industry experience.
• Strong experience designing LV switchboards, MCCs and industrial control systems.
• Sound understanding of circuit protection, power distribution and switchboard construction.
• Experience with Australian Standards including AS/NZS 61439.
• Ability to interpret complex electrical specifications and drawings.
• Experience preparing technical quotations and project cost estimates.
• Strong AutoCAD and electrical design software experience.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Commercial awareness combined with strong engineering judgement.
