Hays is partnering with a respected commercial construction and fit-out contractor delivering projects across retail, office, hospitality and commercial environments. Due to continued project growth, opportunities are available for experienced Commercial Carpenters and Shop Fitters to join busy site teams working on high-quality fit-out projects.

Your new role

You will be involved in the construction, installation and finishing stages of commercial fit-out projects, working across retail stores, offices, hospitality venues and other commercial spaces. Responsibilities may include:

• Shop fitting and commercial fit-out installations

• Reading and interpreting plans, drawings and specifications

• Constructing wall and ceiling framing

• Installing doors, partitions, timber features and hardware

• Steel stud and plasterboard installation

• Suspended ceiling installation

• Joinery, cabinetry and reception desk installation

• Retail shelving, display units and commercial furniture fit-outs

• First fix and second fix carpentry works

• Using a range of hand and power tools including nail guns, circular saws, laser levels and drills

• Maintaining high safety and quality standards on site

What you'll need to succeed

• Certificate III in Carpentry (essential)

• Current White Card (essential)

• Asbestos Awareness certification (essential)

• Silica Awareness certification (essential)

• Demonstrated experience in commercial carpentry, shop fitting or commercial fit-outs

• Experience with office, retail or hospitality fit-out projects

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Working at Heights ticket (highly regarded)

• Reliable transport and a positive attitude towards safety
