Your new company
Hays Legal is partnering with a prominent government organisation seeking to establish a panel of highly experienced legal practitioners to provide specialist legal support on an as-needed basis.
This opportunity is suited to senior lawyers with extensive post-qualification experience who are comfortable operating at a strategic level and providing high-level legal advice on complex and sensitive matters. Successful candidates will join a pre-qualified panel and may be engaged from time to time to support priority projects, peak workload periods and specialised legal matters.
Your new role
Working closely with senior leadership, you will be engaged to provide expert legal advice and support across a range of significant government, commercial and policy matters. Assignments will vary in length and scope and may include advisory work, project support, document reviews, transactions and governance initiatives.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced practitioners seeking flexible consulting arrangements while working on complex and impactful legal matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic, timely and commercially focused legal advice on complex and sensitive matters.
- Advise on commercial agreements, procurement activities, banking and financial arrangements, governance frameworks and policy initiatives.
- Draft, review and negotiate a range of legal documents, including contracts, funding agreements and governance instruments.
- Support significant projects, transactions and organisational initiatives.
- Engage with senior stakeholders and provide practical, solutions-focused advice.
- Identify legal and commercial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Work autonomously while navigating complex legal and governance environments
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will ideally possess:
- A current unrestricted Australian practicing certificate.
- A minimum of 15 years' post-qualification experience.
- Strong experience advising government or public sector
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic legal advice to senior executives and key stakeholders.
- Experience drafting complex legal documents and advising on governance and policy matters.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outcomes with minimal supervision.
- Current professional indemnity insurance.
