Your new company

Our client is a highly regarded national, Tier 1, commercial builder with a long-standing reputation for delivering complex and iconic projects across Tasmania. With a strong pipeline of work and a collaborative culture, they are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead estimating functions and contribute to continued growth within the state business.

Your new role

Reporting to the State Manager, you will be responsible for leading the estimating and cost planning function, ensuring the successful delivery of competitive tenders and supporting the achievement of business growth objectives.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Efficiently managing the state estimating and cost planning process.
  • Maximising profit on turnover through effective tender strategies and commercial decision-making.
  • Preparing and reviewing detailed estimates, cost plans and tender submissions, managing the tender process from inception to submission.
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of upcoming tender opportunities and market pipelines.
  • Supporting business development activities and contributing to work-winning strategies.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and key industry stakeholders.
  • Monitoring market competitiveness, pricing movements, emerging construction methodologies and cost trends.
  • Ensuring compliance with company systems, procedures and governance requirements.
  • Driving continuous improvement of estimating systems and processes to maintain market-leading performance.
  • Mentoring, coaching and developing estimators within the team.
  • Maintaining strong subcontractor relationships and ensuring best practice procurement and construction delivery outcomes.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this position, you will be able to demonstrate proven experience as a Senior Estimator within the commercial construction industry and a strong background pricing large-scale building projects across multiple sectors.

Your experience will also include:
  • Success in leading complex tenders and winning profitable work.
  • Excellent commercial acumen and risk management skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience mentoring and developing team members.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or a related discipline
