This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of high-profile commercial projects, influence strategic decision-making and play a key role in shaping the future use of significant community assets.

Your new role

As the Senior Commercial & Leasing Specialist, you will lead the organisation's key commercial, leasing and stakeholder engagement activities, with an initial focus on a major community and sporting precinct redevelopment.

  • Lead commercial negotiations, leasing arrangements and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Manage leases, licences, subleases and operator agreements across a diverse property portfolio
  • Drive Expressions of Interest (EOI), Request for Proposal (RFP) and similar commercial procurement processes
  • Prepare recommendations and commercial reports for executive and Council consideration
  • Review existing commercial agreements and identify opportunities to improve commercial outcomes, governance and risk management
  • Establish and maintain a centralised register of leases, licences and commercial agreements
  • Manage relationships with sporting clubs, community organisations, operators and commercial tenants
  • Support negotiations relating to community facilities, recreational assets and major commercial agreements
  • Provide strategic advice on commercial opportunities, risks and future asset utilisation
  • Coordinate implementation of approved commercial and leasing decisions
  • Ensure all activities align with governance, compliance, procurement and legislative requirements

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience managing commercial leases, licences, contracts or property-related agreements
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex negotiations and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Experience managing end-to-end EOI, RFP or commercial procurement processes
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess risks, opportunities and financial implications.
  • Excellent written communication skills with experience preparing recommendations and reports for senior leadership
  • Sound understanding of governance, compliance and risk management principles
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience within Local Government, Property, Asset Management, Commercial Management or a similarly regulated environment will be highly regarded.
  • Experience working with community facilities, sporting precincts or operator agreements is desirable.

What you'll get in return

  • Direct reporting line to the CEO
  • Newly created strategic position with significant scope and visibility
  • Opportunity to influence major commercial and community projects
  • Diverse role combining commercial management, leasing, stakeholder engagement and strategic advisory responsibilities
  • Autonomous position with the ability to make a genuine impact on the organisation and community
  • Long-term career opportunity within a stable and respected organisation
