Hays is proud to be partnered with the Department of Corporate and Digital Development in their search for a Director Supply & Contracts to provide strategic leadership and expert commercial advice across a diverse portfolio of procurement, contract management and supplier engagement activities. This role plays a critical part in delivering complex, high-value and high-risk procurement programs while ensuring strong governance, compliance and commercial outcomes.

About the Role
As Director Supply & Contracts, you will:
  • Lead complex procurement activities from strategy and planning through to tender evaluation and contract award.
  • Provide expert commercial and contractual advice to senior stakeholders and project teams.
  • Manage and oversee contractor performance across significant commercial agreements, including digital services and projects.
  • Drive contract governance, risk management and industry engagement activities.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing and diverse team.

About You
We are particularly interested in candidates with a commercial legal background and demonstrated experience applying commercial law principles in procurement, contracting and contract management environments. You will bring:
  • Strong experience managing complex commercial procurements and tender processes.
  • Expertise in contract negotiation, contract administration and supplier relationship management.
  • Excellent knowledge of commercial, contractual and governance frameworks.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including drafting and reviewing complex contractual documentation.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation capabilities.
  • Proven leadership experience and the ability to build collaborative, high-performing teams.

Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in Law, Business, Procurement or a related discipline will be highly regarded, along with experience operating in complex commercial or government environments.
