Jigalong Community Incorporated is seeking a capable, organised and culturally respectful Office and Town Services Manager to support the Chief Executive Officer and coordinate the day-to-day delivery of office and municipal services in Jigalong Community.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position to 30 June 2027, with any extension subject to continued funding, organisational requirements and satisfactory performance.
Salary: $72,527 per annum plus statutory superannuation and applicable district allowance.
Subsidised partly furnished accommodation is available in Jigalong. Salary packaging may also be available under JCI policy.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The position combines senior office administration, community and stakeholder liaison, governance support, visitor accommodation coordination and administration of the Remote Essential and Municipal Services program with practical oversight of municipal employees and work programs.
The successful applicant must be comfortable undertaking both office-based duties and regular field inspections, establishing priorities, maintaining accurate records, following up work and supporting local employees to deliver reliable community services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage the daily operation of the JCI community office and maintain effective administrative systems, records, correspondence and work schedules.
• Act as a principal contact for community members, the JCI Board, government agencies, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Support Board and community meetings, including agendas, minutes, correspondence and follow-up of actions.
• Coordinate purchasing, quotations, supplies, invoice checking, office resources, telecommunications and other administrative services.
• Administer and support REMS funding, records, reporting, inspections, field surveys and required corrective actions.
• Prepare and coordinate municipal work programs and supervise employees undertaking rubbish collection, landfill maintenance, roads and drainage, public area maintenance, vegetation control, firebreaks, airstrip maintenance and related activities.
• Maintain plant, machinery, vehicle, servicing, asset and work-completion records, including photographs and supporting evidence where required.
• Report essential-services faults and liaise with the REMS Contract Manager, regional service providers, local government and relevant agencies.
• Coordinate visitor accommodation bookings, occupancy records, cleaning arrangements and related administration.
• Train and support local employees in office practices, record keeping, safe work practices and municipal-service requirements.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Demonstrated experience in office administration, operations coordination, community services or a comparable role.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan work, supervise employees and follow tasks through to completion.
• Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, email and electronic record keeping.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• High personal integrity, sound judgement and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• A respectful and culturally appropriate approach to living and working in a remote Aboriginal community.
• Current Australian C Class driver’s licence.
• Legal right to work in Australia.
• Capacity to obtain and maintain a satisfactory National Police Certificate and Working with Children Check.
Experience with REMS, municipal services, remote community administration, government-funded programs, staff supervision, governance support, accommodation management, asset records or local government liaison will be highly regarded.
