Your new company

A local government organisation is seeking an experienced Industrial Relations Consultant to support its People & Culture team through an upcoming Enterprise Agreement bargaining process. This is an opportunity to play a key role in a high-profile industrial relations project, working closely with internal stakeholders, employee representatives, unions and participating councils to help achieve successful bargaining outcomes.

Your new role

  • Support the planning, coordination and delivery of the Enterprise Agreement bargaining process

  • Participate in bargaining working groups involving multiple councils, employee representatives and union stakeholders

  • Analyse workforce, remuneration and industrial relations data to help inform bargaining positions and decision-making

  • Assist in the development of bargaining strategies, proposals, positions and supporting documentation

  • Prepare briefing papers, reports, presentations and negotiation materials for internal stakeholders

  • Represent Council at bargaining and working group meetings where required.

  • Provide advice on industrial relations risks, compliance considerations and bargaining opportunities

  • Track bargaining issues, commitments and outcomes, ensuring accurate record-keeping and follow-up actions

  • Support leaders and stakeholders in understanding bargaining outcomes and organisational impacts

What you'll need to succeed

  • Demonstrated experience leading or supporting Enterprise Agreement bargaining within local government or similarly unionised environments

  • Strong industrial and employment relations knowledge

  • Experience working collaboratively with unions and employee representatives

  • Strong analytical capability, with the ability to interpret workforce, remuneration and industrial relations data and translate findings into practical recommendations

  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, influencing and communication skills

  • Strong report writing, briefing and document preparation skills

  • Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with an internal People & Culture team
