Full Time Mechanical Engineering Technician $85,000 to $95,000 per annum.

Summary

The Mechanical Engineering Technician supports the operational and technical functions of the business by assisting with the testing, maintenance, inspection, modification, and performance monitoring of Kwikstage scaffold systems and associated mechanical equipment.

The role contributes to ensuring scaffold components, machinery, and supporting systems operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering specifications, Australian Standards, and workplace safety requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

Technical and Engineering Support
• Assist in testing and evaluating Kwikstage scaffold components and associated mechanical systems to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and Australian safety standards
• Support the preparation and interpretation of technical drawings, measurements, and engineering documentation relating to scaffold manufacturing and installation activities
• Identify mechanical faults, structural wear, or operational issues within scaffold systems and recommend appropriate corrective actions

Maintenance and Equipment Monitoring
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities on scaffold equipment, workshop machinery, lifting devices, and mechanical tools
• Monitor equipment performance and coordinate repairs or servicing to minimise operational downtime and maintain workplace safety
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance schedules, repairs, servicing activities, and equipment performance outcomes

Manufacturing and Fabrication Support
• Assist with the fabrication, assembly, and modification of scaffold components in accordance with engineering specifications and operational requirements
• Support workshop personnel in ensuring scaffold products are manufactured accurately, safely, and efficiently
• Perform quality assurance checks on completed scaffold components prior to installation, dispatch, or operational use

Installation and Operational Support
• Provide technical support during scaffold installation and dismantling activities to ensure structural integrity and compliance with project requirements
• Assist site supervisors and installation teams in resolving technical and mechanical issues arising during scaffold operations
• Participate in site inspections and contribute to maintaining compliance with workplace health and safety procedures

Compliance and Documentation
• Ensure engineering and operational activities comply with Australian Standards, workplace safety legislation, and company procedures
• Prepare technical reports, inspection findings, maintenance documentation, and operational recommendations for management review
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing scaffold system reliability, operational efficiency, and maintenance processes

Required Skills
• Relevant qualification or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field and/or.
• At least 3 years of relevant industry experience in mechanical maintenance, manufacturing or engineering support.
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment maintenance, fault diagnosis, and preventative maintenance processes.
• Experience in testing, inspecting, assembling, and maintaining mechanical systems and equipment.
• Ability to read technical drawings and engineering documentation, including AutoCAD layouts.
• Experience using measuring instruments and diagnostic tools for maintenance and quality control.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of construction professionals.
• Understanding of workplace safety procedures and operational compliance requirements.
