Key Responsibilities
• Supporting the setup and preparation of materials, equipment and learning environments for children’s educational and recreational activities in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG).
• Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting children’s social and emotional development through responsive and developmentally appropriate interactions
• Delivering engaging activities that promote learning, creativity and play, aligned with EYLF and QKLG principles.
• Engaging children through storytelling, songs, games and imaginative play to support communication and early literacy development.
• Supervising children during group and recreational activities to ensure their safety, inclusion and wellbeing.
• Assisting with daily routines to promote independence, consistency and self-care skills.
• Maintaining high standards of hygiene and supporting children to develop healthy habits and safe practices.
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with children, families and colleagues to support a collaborative learning environment.
• Documenting children’s learning and development and communicating progress with families.
• Contributing to the implementation and ongoing review of the centre’s Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
• Supporting the smooth day-to-day operations of the centre.
Qualifications and Experience
• Relevant qualifications in early childhood education and care or a closely related field, with at least an AQF Certificate III or higher.
• Candidates holding a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or a related field, or those willing to undertake further study towards a Diploma, will be highly regarded.
• In the absence of formal qualifications, relevant work experience in a similar role may be considered where appropriate
• Current First Aid qualifications (CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis training) or ability to obtain.
• Valid blue card (or ability to obtain one).
• Demonstrated experience working within an early childhood setting.
• Sound understanding of the EYLF and QKLG and its application in practice.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
