An innovative and growing Australian engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Configuration Manager to lead, mature and continuously improve configuration management across complex systems, equipment and software programs. This is a hands-on, high-impact opportunity for someone who enjoys building structure, driving governance and partnering closely with engineering, project and delivery teams.
Your New Company
This is a rare opportunity to join a forward-thinking engineering business with a strong reputation for technical excellence, innovation and long-term project delivery. Based in a beautiful location, the organisation offers the best of both worlds: meaningful, visible project work within a supportive environment that values collaboration, capability uplift and career development.
You will be surrounded by excellent leadership and mentorship, with genuine access to senior decision-makers, clear progression pathways and the opportunity to make your mark on projects that matter.
Your New Role
As Configuration Manager, you will take ownership of the configuration management framework across complex engineering programs. This role blends strategic governance with practical delivery, giving you the autonomy to shape processes while remaining close to the technical detail.
- Own, maintain and continuously improve configuration management policies, processes, procedures and tools.
- Establish and govern configuration baselines across the full system lifecycle.
- Lead configuration control activities, including Change Control Boards.
- Manage engineering change processes, configuration status accounting and configuration audits.
- Maintain accurate configuration records, drawings, specifications and associated technical data.
- Provide practical CM guidance to engineering, project and delivery teams.
- Support compliance with relevant defence, engineering and industry standards.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Significant configuration management experience within defence, aerospace or complex engineering environments.
- Experience developing and implementing CM frameworks, policies and procedures.
- Strong understanding of configuration data, baselines and engineering change processes.
- Knowledge of relevant CM standards such as EIA-649, MIL-HDBK-61, ISO, ITIL or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience using CM or PLM tools; Windchill experience will be highly regarded.
- Ability to operate strategically while also supporting hands-on delivery.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across technical and project teams.
- A degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, IT or a related discipline.
