Location: Shop F75/24-32 Lexington Dr, Bella Vista, NSW 2153 Salary: $78,000 plus 12% superannuation Position: Permanent, Full time

Sahajanand Family Trust trading as Big Bite, operates a vibrant Indian restaurant in Bella Vista, NSW. Big Bite is known for its popular Indian menu featuring traditional favourites such as Butter Masala, Chhole Bhature and Samosa, and for delivering a trusted dining experience to local customers.

The client is seeking a passionate and qualified Chef to join its skilled kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen and ensuring the consistent preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes in line with the restaurant’s standards, menu style and business objectives.

You should have a passion for cooking and a strong understanding of kitchen operations, including food safety, kitchen equipment and staff coordination. The Chef will ensure each menu item is prepared on time and meets the required presentation style and quality standards.

Qualifications and experience

• Must have at least one-year culinary experience in a chef role with minimum requirement having completed a Certificate IV or Diploma in Hospitality

In this role your main responsibilities include:

• Preparing and cooking menu items to a high standard
• Ensuring food is prepared and served on time
• Contributing to menu development and innovation
• Ensuring consistency in food quality and presentation
• Monitoring food and operating costs by reducing waste
• Maintaining high food safety standards and procedures
• Monitoring and adhering to OH&S requirements
• Ensuring that all dishes reach the pass correctly garnished, in the correct portion size, and presented in the prescribed manner
• Menu planning, development and costing
• Contributing to a harmonious environment amongst all staff within the restaurant
• Ensuring timely and quality service according to service specifications and customer expectations

Skills

The successful candidate will have a passion for the hospitality industry and be career focused. The key skills include:

• Outstanding culinary knowledge and a strong passion for food
• Knowledge of stock control
• Knowledge of nutritional and allergy requirements
• A full understanding of food controls
• Understanding of food safety, WHS and HACCP principles

You must be resilient and flexible with a positive can-do attitude to meet the demands in this fast-paced environment and have the ability to remain calm under pressure.
