Asset Consent Officer

Your new local council
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Asset Consent Officer to join a busy local government infrastructure team on an initial 3-month contract. This role is responsible for overseeing permit compliance, conducting inspections, investigating breaches, and ensuring works within the road reserve are completed in accordance with relevant standards, policies, and legislation.

Your new role

  • Conduct inspections before, during, and after construction and reinstatement works.
  • Assess vehicle crossing and road reserve permit applications.
  • Monitor contractor and developer compliance with approved permits and Council standards.
  • Investigate and resolve permit breaches and non-compliance issues.
  • Provide advice and guidance to contractors, developers, and members of the public.
  • Prepare compliance documentation, notices, and correspondence.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding infrastructure and permit matters.
  • Maintain accurate records and utilise relevant systems for compliance and asset management activities.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in local government, civil construction, infrastructure maintenance, compliance, inspections, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of vehicle crossing permits, road reserve permits, and associated legislation.
  • Understanding of road, drainage, footpath, and civil infrastructure construction principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction, engineering, or building plans.
  • Experience monitoring contractor work and ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
  • Current Victorian Driving Licence
