Technical Writer

Job description

Your new company

Join a large Queensland-based public sector organisation delivering a significant business transformation program aimed at improving governance, financial management, asset lifecycle management, and project delivery capability. Supporting a substantial infrastructure portfolio and investment program, this transformation initiative will establish stronger frameworks, processes, and controls to enhance organisational performance and long-term service delivery outcomes.

Your new role

As the Technical Writer, you will play a key role in developing, editing, and maintaining controlled documentation across a major transformation program. Working closely with subject matter experts, project teams, and senior stakeholders, you will translate complex technical, financial, and operational information into clear, accessible, and user-friendly documentation.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and maintaining governance, planning, assurance, and project management documentation.
  • Creating process maps, templates, guidance materials, procedures, checklists, and knowledge resources.
  • Preparing financial management documentation, reporting tools, and user guidance materials.
  • Writing, reviewing, and editing technical documentation to a publishable standard.
  • Assisting with executive briefing papers, reports, and business improvement documentation.
  • Producing stakeholder communications, training materials, and change management resources.
  • Conducting quality assurance reviews and maintaining version-controlled document repositories.
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to define documentation requirements and ensure content accuracy.
  • Promoting documentation standards and continuous improvement across the program.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • Extensive experience as a Technical Writer, Documentation Specialist, or similar role within complex project or program environments.
  • Strong experience developing, editing, and maintaining high-quality technical and business documentation.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience producing governance, process, policy, framework, reporting, or project-related documentation.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes within tight timeframes.
  • Experience working collaboratively with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and project teams.

What you'll get in return

  • Opportunity to contribute to a high-profile business transformation program.
  • Exposure to complex governance, financial management, and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • The chance to work alongside senior stakeholders and subject matter experts across multiple business functions.
  • A rewarding contract opportunity where your work will have a direct impact on program delivery, organisational capability, and long-term business improvement outcomes.
