Your new role
This Federal Government department plays a critical role in supporting Defence capability through the development of strategic doctrine and guidance. You will join a specialised directorate responsible for delivering high-quality publications that shape operational frameworks across the Australian Defence Force.
As a Publication Developer, you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of doctrine publications. Acting as the central point of coordination, you will work closely with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop, review, and finalise complex documentation in line with Defence standards.
This is a senior-level role combining technical writing, stakeholder engagement, and delivery ownership within a structured and highly regulated environment.
What you'll need to succeed
Demonstrated experience in technical writing, policy writing, or publication development
Proven ability to deliver end-to-end documentation projects within defined timeframes
Strong experience engaging with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear, structured content
Experience working within large, complex, or government environments (Defence experience highly regarded)
Strong organisational, coordination, and problem-solving skills
Previous Defence experience or familiarity with doctrine frameworks
Current or previously held Baseline or NV1 security clearance
