The Environment & Resilience team plays a key role in managing complex environmental and engineering programs, including stormwater asset management, floodplain risk management, catchment management and infrastructure projects. You’ll be joining a collaborative team focused on delivering sustainable and practical solutions for the community.

Your new role
As a Stormwater Engineer, you will play a key role in investigating, designing and delivering stormwater and flood management solutions.

This temporary contract role will see you provide technical expertise across stormwater infrastructure projects, asset management, drainage investigations and development assessments, working closely with internal teams, contractors and consultants.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Investigating stormwater and flooding issues, providing technical advice and developing practical solutions
  • Undertaking drainage design, hydrological and hydraulic assessments and modelling where required
  • Managing stormwater infrastructure projects from concept through to delivery, including scoping, procurement, contract administration and supervision
  • Reviewing asset condition data and prioritising renewal works based on risk, condition and cost-effectiveness.
  • Providing technical input into stormwater management, water quality improvements and flood mitigation initiatives
  • Supporting development assessment processes relating to stormwater and flooding requirements Managing project budgets, timelines, stakeholders and reporting requirements
  • Building strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, consultants and external stakeholders

    What you’ll need to succeed
  • A degree qualification in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience in stormwater drainage systems, floodplain management and catchment processes
  • Demonstrated experience in investigation, analysis, design and delivery of stormwater projects
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, engineering standards and infrastructure management practices
  • Experience preparing tenders, specifications and contract documentation
  • Experience using relevant software including Microsoft Office and hydrological/hydraulic modelling packages such as DRAINS, HEC-RAS or TUFLOW
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare reports and provide technical advice
  • NSW Driver Licence and White Card
