Your new role
As a Senior Network Specialist within the Public Safety Network Centre (PSNMC) Deployment team, you will be crucial in the support of deploying network capabilities for the supported agencies. You will be responsible for configuring hardware for deployment, commission hardware for sites and the implementation of the project deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Network Specialist, you will:
  • Build and configure Cisco routers according to network specifications for operation within an SR-MPLS framework.
  • Update inventory and configuration records to reflect build of the devices.
  • Develop change documentation for subsequent approval by client agencies.
  • Commission routers and network monitoring hardware within the PSN remotely in conjunction with contracted installers on site.
  • Update inventory and configuration records to reflect commissioning of the new devices and removal of the previous devices.
  • Conduct data integrity checks for hardware and PSN sites.
  • Conduct handovers of hardware to the Operations team for ongoing support and maintenance.
  • Operate within PSNMC technical framework for Change, Release, Incident and Problem Management processes.
What you'll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
  • Demonstrated experience with SR-MPLS networks.
  • Demonstrated understanding of overlay and underlay layer 3 routing protocols including MP-BGP and OSPF and experience in environments with hundreds of individual peering’s using IPv4 and IPv6.
  • Demonstrated understanding of end to end Quality of Service (QoS) deployment regime incorporating: o MPLS QoS
o Layer 3 QoS in a non-MPLS environment
o Layer 2 QoS in a non-MPLS environment
  • Familiarity with Cisco routers.
  • Familiarity with Network Virtualisation Technologies e.g. MPLS VPNs including: VRFs, VPLS, EVPN, VRF-lite and VXLAN.
  • Demonstrated experience with wireless and radio networks, such as controller, access point, WLAN, 4/5G LTE design and deployment using Cisco.
  • Demonstrated experience managing authentication technologies such as TACACS, Radius, OTP, Active Directory, SAML / SSO and OAuth.
  • Demonstrated experience with remote access and encryption technologies for site to site (e.g. IPSEC VPNs, Cisco DMVPN) and client to site (e.g. SSL VPN) Always On VPN, and MACsec.
  • Demonstrated experience analysing packet captures and logs to determine application and network issues using tcpdump, Wireshark, NetScout and Splunk tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with carrier core, aggregation, access interconnect such as PNI, NNI and subscriber access. Retail and wholesale telecommunications service mapping and hand-off.
