Senior Legal Counsel

Job description

Your new company

Our client is a rapidly growing global technology and infrastructure company operating at the forefront of high-performance computing and AI-driven digital infrastructure. With a significant international footprint and ambitious expansion plans, the business develops and operates large-scale data centre assets that support some of the world's leading technology organisations.

Your new role

Reporting to a senior legal leader and working within a lean and high-performing global legal team, this newly created Senior Legal Counsel position will be based in Sydney and form part of a specialist commercial legal team. You will play a key role in supporting the business across a broad range of commercial, technology and regulatory matters, partnering closely with senior stakeholders across Australia, North America and other international jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Negotiating and advising on complex customer and commercial agreements.
  • Supporting procurement, technology and infrastructure-related transactions.
  • Advising on data privacy, governance and compliance matters.
  • Managing cross-border contractual arrangements, including matters involving US-based counterparties and legal frameworks.
  • Working closely with commercial, technology, risk, compliance and people leaders across the organisation.
  • Engaging with external counsel where required while maintaining ownership of legal matters and negotiations.
  • Supporting the development of legal processes, governance frameworks and strategic initiatives as the business continues to scale.

This is a hands-on role offering significant autonomy, responsibility and exposure to sophisticated international transactions.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally possess:
  • A strong legal foundation gained within a leading commercial law firm.
  • Extensive experience in commercial contracting, negotiation and advisory work.
  • Strong expertise across technology, infrastructure, SaaS, cloud, data centre or related commercial environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage complex transactions independently and provide pragmatic commercial advice.
  • Experience advising on data privacy and information governance matters, including familiarity with international privacy frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA or similar regimes.
  • A commercially focused and solutions-oriented mindset.

In-house experience will be highly regarded, particularly within a fast-paced, high-growth or technology-focused environment. International experience, especially exposure to the US market, will also be viewed favourably.

What you'll get in return

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a fast-growing global business operating within one of the most dynamic sectors of the technology market.

In return, you will receive:
  • Exposure to complex, high-profile international transactions.
  • The opportunity to work alongside senior executives and key decision-makers.
  • A position within a lean, collaborative and highly capable legal team.
  • Supportive leadership committed to professional development and career growth.
  • Broad exposure across commercial, technology and privacy law.
  • A high level of autonomy and influence within the organisation.
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements.
  • A collaborative, inclusive and high-performing culture that values initiative, teamwork and innovation.
