Senior Landscape Planner
Paying up to $64.95 per hour + super
Southeastern suburbs
Contract till 6th November 2026
Hybrid working (1 day in office a week)

Hays are excited to be partnering with a southeastern local council to recruit an experienced Senior Landscape Planner. This is an excellent opportunity for a landscape professional who is passionate about creating high-quality, sustainable and liveable public environments while contributing to the planning and development of new communities.

About the role
This role is responsible for assessing and reviewing subdivision landscape plans, ensuring landscape outcomes align with approved masterplans, industry best practice, relevant standards and council requirements. Working closely with developers, landscape architects, planners and other stakeholders, you will provide specialist advice on landscape planning matters and contribute to the delivery of attractive, functional and sustainable public spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, review and approve subdivision landscape plans to ensure compliance with relevant policies, guidelines and quality design standards.
  • Evaluate subdivision landscape applications and provide technical advice and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Review landscape masterplans, construction issue plans and streetscape designs for suitability, functionality and compliance with industry standards.
  • Work collaboratively with developers, landscape architects and construction consultants to achieve positive landscape outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and review of landscape-related policies, strategies and planning initiatives.
  • Provide specialist landscape planning advice on planning referrals, precinct structure plans, development plans and masterplans.
  • Respond to landscape planning enquiries and assist with compliance and enforcement matters where required.

Key Selection Criteria
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture or related discipline, with significant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and assessing landscape architectural and subdivision landscape plans.
  • Strong knowledge of landscape construction practices, streetscape design and horticultural principles.
  • Proven ability to provide specialist technical advice and manage complex planning referrals and applications.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external parties.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing deadlines.
  • High level of professional judgement, problem-solving capability and attention to detail.
