This is an opportunity to join a well-established metropolitan council committed to delivering high-quality public spaces, recreational facilities and community infrastructure. Working within a collaborative Open Space Planning and Recreation team, you will contribute to projects that enhance parks, playgrounds, streetscapes and public domain outcomes for the local community.

Your new role

An experienced Landscape Architect is required to support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of open space and public realm projects on an initial contract through to December 2026. Working alongside experienced Landscape Architects, you will be involved in the planning, design and delivery of parks, playgrounds, recreational facilities and streetscape projects, while also providing strategic landscape advice across a range of planning initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing open space projects from concept design through to construction and completion
Undertaking site investigations, analysis and preparation of design documentation
Preparing concept and detailed designs, specifications and tender documentation
Administering contracts and monitoring project budgets and expenditure
Conducting site inspections and supervising work to ensure quality outcomes
Reviewing Development Applications and Planning Proposals, providing landscape and tree-related advice
Preparing reports, correspondence, cost estimates and project management documentation
Facilitating community consultation and stakeholder engagement activities
Assisting with environmental assessments and regulatory approvals
Providing landscape design advice to internal stakeholders and project teams
Projects will include playground upgrades, park improvements, public domain works, streetscape projects and strategic planning initiatives.

What you'll need to succeed

Degree qualifications in Landscape Architecture or a related discipline
Minimum 3 years' post-graduate experience
Experience delivering open space projects, parks, playgrounds, streetscapes or recreational facilities
Strong design, project management and contract administration skills
Experience preparing cost estimates and project documentation
Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD or Vector works, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
Current Class C Driving Licence

Highly regarded:

Local Government experience
Experience reviewing Development Applications and Planning Proposals
Procurement and tendering experience
GIS/QIS capability
Experience with playground upgrades and open space asset management
