About the role The Senior Drug and Alcohol Peer Support Worker provides leadership, supervision, and mentoring to the peer workforce, ensuring high-quality, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed support across Community Drug and Alcohol services. The role also delivers direct peer support, contributes to workforce development and education, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to improve outcomes for people accessing services across the region.

Your Responsibilities will include:

Providing leadership, supervision and mentoring to Drug and Alcohol Peer Support Workers to support high-quality service delivery. Delivering recovery-oriented, trauma-informed peer support to people accessing Community Drug and Alcohol services. Contributing to workforce development, including education, training and professional development of peer workers. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure coordinated, person-centred care. Supporting service improvement and strategic initiatives to strengthen peer workforce capability and service quality. Your contribution as a healthcare professional will have a meaningful and positive impact, which is felt at a community level.

Criteria candidates are required to meet:

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

Demonstrated lived experience of recovery from drug and/or alcohol use, with the ability to use this experience to support others. Relevant Australian recongised tertiary qualification in Peer Work, health, community services or social care and willingness to complete the BUILD Program NSW Working with Children Check Experience working in a Peer Worker role, including the ability to provide mentoring, supervision or leadership to others. Understanding of drug and alcohol issues and treatment approaches, including recovery-oriented and harm minimisation frameworks. Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
