Devara Pty Ltd, trading as Drift Café, is one of Devonport's premier beachside dining destinations, located at The Bluff overlooking the stunning Bass Strait coastline. Open seven days a week, Drift offers an extensive breakfast, brunch and lunch menu, takeaway services through its Drift-Away outlet, specialty coffee and catering for private functions and events. Our reputation has been built on exceptional customer service, quality Tasmanian produce and a relaxed coastal dining experience.

We are seeking an experienced Retail Manager to oversee the daily retail and customer service operations of our busy hospitality venue. The successful applicant will lead our front-of-house team, manage operational performance, maintain exceptional customer service standards and contribute to the continued growth of the business.

Minimum Requirements:

AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in the relevant field or minimum 3 years relevant experience. At least one year experience in a similar role

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day retail and front-of-house operations of the café and takeaway business.
• Lead, supervise, train and motivate customer service and retail staff.
• Coordinate staff rosters to ensure efficient service during peak trading periods.
• Monitor sales performance and implement initiatives to maximise revenue and customer satisfaction.
• Manage inventory levels, stock ordering and supplier relationships for retail products and beverages.
• Oversee merchandising and presentation of retail displays, takeaway products and point-of-sale areas.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety and company operational procedures.
• Resolve customer enquiries and complaints promptly and professionally.
• Monitor operational costs and prepare management reports relating to sales, staffing and inventory.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and customer service throughout the venue.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience managing retail or hospitality operations in a busy customer-focused environment.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Experience with inventory control, ordering and retail merchandising.
• Sound organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
