An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Payroll Manager to join a large national not-for-profit organisation that supports communities across multiple Australian states.
This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing a payroll function supporting employees across a complex workforce operating under multiple enterprise agreements and employment frameworks. The organisation is currently navigating a significant period of growth and integration, creating an opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to drive governance, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Your New Role
Reporting to a senior finance leader, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of payroll operations while leading a small team of payroll professionals. You will ensure payroll is delivered accurately, compliantly and efficiently while supporting broader improvement and transformation initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading end-to-end payroll operations for a large and complex workforce.
  • Managing and developing a team of payroll professionals.
  • Ensuring compliance with awards, enterprise agreements and payroll legislation.
  • Managing payroll governance, controls, reconciliations and audit readiness.
  • Leading payroll remediation, compliance and improvement projects.
  • Supporting system enhancements, testing and process optimisation initiatives.
  • Partnering with HR, Finance and key stakeholders to improve payroll outcomes.
  • Providing escalation support for complex payroll matters.

What You'll Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Significant experience managing payroll within a medium to large organisation.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring payroll teams.
  • Strong knowledge of awards, enterprise agreements and payroll legislation.
  • Experience with payroll audits, reconciliations, quality assurance and compliance activities.
  • Advanced payroll systems experience, ideally within enterprise environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in payroll remediation, governance or transformation projects will be highly regarded.
