Your new company

Hays is currently seeking an experienced Finance Officer for a short-term State Government contract commencing on 17 August. This 7-week assignment will suit a candidate with strong Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable experience who can quickly integrate into a busy finance team and provide accurate transactional support.


Your new role

Working within a Corporate Services team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial administration and transactional support across both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Reconciling accounts and investigating discrepancies
  • Managing debtor and creditor administration activities
  • Assisting with debt recovery processes and payment arrangements
  • Processing invoices, payments, refunds and financial adjustments
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
  • Generating reports and investigating anomalies within financial systems
  • Supporting bank reconciliations and financial administration processes
  • Providing customer service and responding to finance-related enquiries
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and external customers regarding financial transactions
  • Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements
  • Supporting the wider finance team with administrative and transactional tasks as required

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful, you will demonstrate:
  • Previous experience in an Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Finance Officer or similar role
  • Experience processing high-volume financial transactions
  • Strong reconciliation skills and attention to detail
  • Experience using financial management systems
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A customer-focused approach and ability to liaise with a variety of stakeholders
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel

Highly regarded:
  • Previous State Government or public sector experience
  • Experience with MYOB or similar financial systems
  • Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics CRM or similar systems
  • Knowledge of government finance processes and procedures
