Job description

Your new company

This industry-leading organisation specialises in the manufacture and assembly of advanced cooling systems used in large-scale data centre environments. Due to continued growth and increasing demand, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Plumbing Quality Assurance Lead to join their workshop operation.

Your new role

Working within a manufacturing and assembly environment, you will take ownership of the quality assurance function across the assembly line for mechanical cooling systems. These systems are critical components within modern data centre infrastructure, including facilities supporting emerging AI technologies.
Reporting to the Assembly Manager, you will provide quality oversight and technical support to assembly teams, ensuring products are built to specification, meet quality standards and maintain compliance requirements. While this is not a people management position with direct reports, you will provide QA leadership and guidance to a team of approximately 4–6 assembly personnel. The role is primarily inspection and quality-focused, with occasional hands-on involvement during peak production periods.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading quality assurance activities across the assembly line

  • Inspecting mechanical plumbing assemblies and cooling system components

  • Monitoring compliance with drawings, specifications and quality standards

  • Providing technical support and guidance to assembly teams

  • Identifying and resolving quality issues during production

  • Conducting quality inspections, audits and reporting activities

  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the workshop

  • Assisting with hands-on assembly work when required
The standard working hours are 6:00am – 2:00pm Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute break. Overtime opportunities are regularly available.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

  • Mechanical plumbing experience with a strong understanding of cooling system flow and operation

  • Certificate III in Plumbing (essential)

  • Experience in quality assurance, quality control, inspections or workshop supervision

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Experience working within manufacturing, fabrication, assembly or industrial environments

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency

  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment functional medical assessment and potential drug and alcohol screening
Previous experience in a lead or supervisory capacity will be highly regarded.

What you'll get in return

  • Permanent, stable workshop-based position

  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge cooling systems supporting major data centre projects

  • Competitive salary package with overtime available

  • Supportive leadership team and collaborative workshop environment

  • Long-term career growth with a growing organisation

  • Immediate opportunity to make an impact within a specialised quality assurance function
