Our client is a respected structural steel fabrication and installation specialist servicing commercial, industrial, and residential projects across Victoria. Due to continued growth, they are seeking experienced Machine Operators to join their workshop team on afternoon shift.

Your new role

You will be responsible for operating and maintaining plasma cutting machines and brake press (bending) equipment within a busy fabrication workshop. Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you’ll work alongside boilermakers, welders, and trade assistants to ensure production targets and quality standards are met.
  • Operating CNC plasma cutting machines to cut structural steel components
  • Operating brake press machines to bend and form steel accurately
  • Performing machine setup, adjustments, and basic programming (where required)
  • Ensuring all components meet precise measurements and tolerances
  • Conducting routine maintenance and safety checks on machinery
  • Working collaboratively with the workshop team to meet deadlines

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience operating plasma cutting and/or brake press machines
  • Ability to read and interpret technical/engineering drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience working in a structural steel or fabrication environment
  • Good understanding of workplace safety practices
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and in a team
  • Forklift ticket is a must
