About the Role As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and servicing of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. Depending on the employer and project, your responsibilities may include:
• Mechanical maintenance, servicing and fault finding on industrial plant and equipment
• Preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
• Breakdown repairs to minimise downtime
• Installation, alignment and commissioning of mechanical equipment
• Repair and replacement of bearings, motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors and other mechanical components
• Hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Performing equipment inspections and reporting maintenance requirements
• Completing maintenance records and documentation
• Working safely in accordance with company procedures and WHS requirements Collaborating with maintenance and production teams to maximise equipment reliability About You To be successful, you will ideally have:
• Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Mechanical Fitter) or equivalent recognised trade qualification
• Previous experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, mining, industrial maintenance or engineering environments
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Experience maintaining rotating equipment and industrial machinery
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals
• Strong problem-solving ability
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Commitment to workplace health and safety Highly Regarded The following experience and licences are advantageous:
• Experience within mining, manufacturing or steel processing
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems experience
• Conveyor and materials handling equipment experience
• Welding and fabrication experience
• Forklift Licence
• Overhead Crane Licence
• Elevated Work Platform (EWP)
• Confined Space and Working at Heights tickets
