Your new company
Our client is a leading civil infrastructure contractor delivering road construction, maintenance, and asphalt projects throughout Queensland. With a strong pipeline of ongoing work and a commitment to safety and quality, they are seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join their team and oversee multiple crews across active project sites.
Your new role
As a Leading Hand, you will be responsible for supervising a crew of approximately 12–13 personnel while coordinating daily activities across road construction and asphalt projects. You will provide leadership on-site, ensure work is completed safely and efficiently, liaise with subcontractors, manage traffic control operations, and support project supervisors with the successful delivery of works. This role will involve both local and away work, with projects requiring employees to work away for up to two weeks at a time.
Travel time is paid from the moment you leave Mackay, with transport provided in a company vehicle from depot to depot. A daily Living Away From Home Allowance (LAHA) is paid while working away, with accommodation provided.
Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol test prior to commencing work. Smoking is not permitted on site and all employees must adhere to the client's strict health, safety, and workplace policies.
What you'll need to succeed
- Current White Card
- Previous experience as a Leading Hand within civil construction, road maintenance, or asphalt projects
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage crews of 12–13 personnel
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and multiple work fronts
- Traffic Control experience and understanding of roadwork safety requirements
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Current Driver's Licence
- Ability to work away from home for up to two weeks at a time
- Reliable and committed to project deadlines
- Ability to pass a pre-employment Medical and Drug & Alcohol Screening
