Job description

Japanese speakers with language teaching experience are invited to deliver a short intensive Japanese language course for adult learners in a school setting. You will work Monday to Friday, 0800–1600 with one-hour meal break during those two weeks. After the course, you will be required to mark the assessments (paid).

LOCATION: In-person, Laverton, Melbourne DATE: 14 - 25 Septmeber 2026 REMUNERATION: $60 per hour + superannuation

DUTIES:

  • Deliver a Japanese language course based on existing materials
  • Adapt lesson plans, conduct assessments and other administrative duties

Essential Criteria

  • Fluent in Japanese
  • University-educated, ideally in education or teaching
  • Minimum one year’s experience teaching/tutoring English or Japanese to adults
  • Experience in translation or interpreting is desirable
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Excellent knowledge of the society, history, culture and politics of Japan
  • Detail-oriented, professional, confident, friendly, and deadline-driven
  • international students or working holiday visa holders are welcomed to apply. But you must be available for the duration of the course.
