Hays Trades & Labour is partnering with a leading landscaping and grounds maintenance contractor delivering high-quality services across commercial, government and community-based projects throughout Canberra. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Garden Maintenance Team Leader to join a well-established organisation that values safety, teamwork and career development.

As a Garden Maintenance Team Leader, you will lead by example while working alongside your team to ensure all gardening and grounds maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Your duties will include:

Leading and coordinating daily garden maintenance activities Providing hands-on support and mentoring team members on-site Mowing, hedging, pruning, weeding, mulching and fertilising Identifying and reporting plant health or site maintenance issues Conducting site risk assessments and promoting a safe work environment Liaising professionally with clients and site stakeholders Ensuring all works are delivered to scope and quality standards

What You'll Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous experience in garden or grounds maintenance Experience leading or supervising small teams Current Driver's Licence Ability to operate garden maintenance equipment safely and efficiently Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and manage daily workloads Strong commitment to workplace health and safety

Desirable:

Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent Previous experience maintaining commercial or government sites Knowledge of plant health management and pest control practices
