Data Communications Technician | Brisbane Based | Travel Across QLD | Full-Time Opportunity Your new company HAYS has partnered with a well-established and growing communications specialist delivering fibre optic solutions across Queensland. Your new role As a Data Communications Technician, you will be working across a mix of local Brisbane sites and remote Queensland projects, installing and maintaining fibre optic communication systems. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working in dynamic environments. This role involves regular work at heights (6-10 meter transmission structures) and in confined spaces. You must be comfortable working at heights, as this is an essential requirement of the position. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fibre optic and data communication systems Conducting site surveys to assess and deliver tailored communication solutions Reading and interpreting cable plans and technical drawings Performing high-quality installations in line with industry standards Working at heights and within confined spaces in a safe and controlled manner Liaising with clients to understand requirements and deliver effective outcomes Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification

What you'll need to succeed We are open-minded on background - the key focus for us is attitude, aptitude, and a genuine interest in data communications. You'll ideally bring:

Experience in telecommunications, electrical, or data communications environments Exposure to fibre optic installation, termination, or testing (highly regarded) ACMA Open Cabling Registration (or willingness to obtain) Current manual driver's licence Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team Strong problem-solving skills and a safety-first mindset Flexibility to travel to remote sites (Monday-Friday) Comfort and capability working at heights (essential)
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop

Desirable but not essential:

Cert III in Telecommunications MR Licence (or willingness to obtain - support provided) Previous site-based experience in infrastructure, electrical, or comms projects
