Target Business Services Location: 33 Honeysuckle Drive, Newcastle NSW 2300 Salary: $77,000 plus 12% superannuation

Our client, 7 Cutz Steakhouse Newcastle Pty Ltd trading as 7 Cutz Steakhouse Newcastle, operates a premium South African-inspired steakhouse situated on the Honeysuckle waterfront in Newcastle. The restaurant is renowned for its chargrilled steaks, ribs, gourmet sides, curated drinks program and private dining experiences, delivering exceptional food and service in an elevated yet welcoming environment.

7 Cutz Steakhouse Newcastle is seeking a motivated and hands-on Cook to join its kitchen team. The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting daily kitchen operations, preparing and cooking high-quality menu items, maintaining food safety standards and contributing to the restaurant's continued success and reputation. This role presents an excellent opportunity for a culinary professional looking to work in a premium, steak-focused kitchen where attention to detail, consistency and a strong service mindset are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a range of menu items including premium steaks, ribs, burgers, seafood and accompaniments in accordance with restaurant recipes and presentation standards.
  • Assist with daily food preparation and mise en place to ensure efficient kitchen operations during service periods.
  • Monitor food quality, portion control and presentation to ensure consistency and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in ordering, stock rotation and inventory management while minimising food wastage.
  • Ensure food is stored, handled and prepared in accordance with food safety and HACCP requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, equipment and storage areas.
  • Assist with the preparation and execution of private functions and special events as required.
  • Support the Head Chef and kitchen team during busy service periods and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all workplace health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Must have at least one year of relevant experience as a Cook.
  • Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or a related qualification is preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.

  • Good understanding of food preparation techniques, portion control and stock management.
