Summary

Our client The Harrisdale Corner is seeking to add a Cook to its busy café, restaurant and bar team in Harrisdale. Located in the heart of Stockland Harrisdale, the venue serves breakfast, lunch and dinner alongside locally roasted coffee, drinks and catering. The Cook will support consistent food quality, efficient kitchen operations and welcoming dining experiences across varied service periods.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

• Examine food ingredients before preparation to confirm freshness, quality and suitability for service.
• Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes according to established recipes and standards.
• Regulate ovens, grills and other cooking equipment to maintain appropriate cooking temperatures.
• Season food during preparation and cooking to achieve consistent flavour and presentation.
• Portion meals accurately and arrange plates with sauces, gravies and garnishes before service.
• Store ingredients and prepared foods safely within appropriate temperature-controlled storage facilities.
• Prepare meals that meet customer allergies, intolerances and other special dietary requirements.
• Assist with planning menus and estimating ingredient quantities required for daily kitchen operations.
• Maintain clean, organised and hygienic food preparation, cooking and storage areas throughout shifts.
• Follow food safety procedures and minimise cross-contamination during preparation, cooking and service.
• Coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to support timely and accurate meal service.
• Monitor stock levels and communicate ingredient requirements to support efficient ordering and preparation.
• Support catering, group bookings and busy service periods with consistent preparation and cooking standards.
• Assist with training junior kitchen staff in preparation methods, equipment use and food safety procedures.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

• Certificate III or Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, supported by relevant practical cooking experience in a commercial kitchen.
• Minimum 12 months of demonstrated experience working as a Cook within a café, restaurant or comparable hospitality environment.
• Strong practical knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, portioning, presentation and safe temperature-controlled food storage procedures.
• Good communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with kitchen staff, service staff and supervisors during busy periods.
• Demonstrated understanding of food safety, hygiene, allergen management and cross-contamination prevention within a professional commercial kitchen environment.
• Ability to prepare consistent breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes while maintaining quality, presentation and efficient service standards.
• Capacity to work reliably across varied service periods, including busy meal times, group bookings and catering requirements.
• A Diploma of Hospitality is advantageous and may support broader knowledge of hospitality operations, service standards and workplace practices.
