Summary

Our client is seeking to add a Civil Engineering Technician to its team in Clayton, Victoria. SNS TECH PTY LTD delivers telecommunications and civil infrastructure solutions across Victoria, managing projects from field scoping and network design through construction, installation and maintenance. Its services support fibre, copper and HFC networks, with a focus on safety, quality and timely project delivery.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Conduct field scoping and collect site measurements for telecommunications and associated civil infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare sketches, plans and tabulations supporting civil works for fibre, copper and HFC network installations.
  • Assist engineering professionals with infrastructure planning, design reviews and practical construction requirements.
  • Interpret project instructions, technical drawings and specifications to guide fieldwork and installation activities.
  • Collect and analyse field data, performing calculations to support infrastructure layouts and construction planning.
  • Conduct field tests of construction materials and soils, recording results against project specifications.
  • Estimate material quantities, labour requirements and construction costs to support project budgeting.
  • Coordinate field teams and subcontractors delivering NBN network upgrades and associated civil works.
  • Monitor resource allocation, material deliveries and work schedules to support timely project completion.
  • Conduct site risk assessments and monitor compliance with project safety and quality requirements.
  • Inspect civil works to verify conformity with specifications, regulatory requirements and contract provisions.
  • Assist with network integration, testing and troubleshooting following infrastructure installation or relocation.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair activities for telecommunications infrastructure and associated civil assets.
  • Maintain project records, inspection reports, test results and technical documentation throughout project delivery.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

  • A Diploma of Building and Construction (Building), supporting technical understanding of construction planning, site operations and project delivery.
  • A minimum of 12 months' recent, directly relevant Australian experience in civil engineering technician or closely comparable roles.
  • Practical knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure projects involving fibre, copper or HFC networks and their associated civil construction requirements.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, prepare site sketches and collect accurate field measurements for infrastructure planning activities.
  • Competence in estimating material quantities, labour requirements and construction costs while maintaining accurate project budgets and records.
  • Understanding of construction material testing, site inspections and quality controls to verify compliance with approved project specifications.
  • Knowledge of site safety procedures, risk assessments and relevant NBN requirements, with a current construction induction White Card.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills to work with engineering professionals, field teams, subcontractors and network stakeholders throughout projects.
