Location: Innisfail Region, North Queensland Job ID: HFG07 An established banana farming business in the Innisfail region of North Queensland is seeking ten (10) Banana Farm Workers for immediate commencement. These are full-time positions, with a guaranteed 38 ordinary hours per week, including regular weekend work as required by operational and seasonal needs. Employment Conditions Employment is in accordance with the Horticulture Award 2020 (MA000028). Successful applicants will:
• Commence at Level 1 classification under the Award.
• Progress to Level 2 classification upon satisfactory completion of a three-month probationary period, in accordance with the Award.
• Work an average of 38 ordinary hours per week, generally rostered over 5 to 6 days, including Saturdays and Sundays where required.
• Be paid at the applicable award rate for their classification under the Horticulture Award 2020 (MA000028), together with any applicable overtime, penalty rates, allowances, superannuation and other entitlements in accordance with Australian workplace laws. This role involves physically demanding manual work in tropical conditions, including regular exposure to hot and humid weather. Duties Field Duties Duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Harvesting banana bunches.
• De-leafing, stringing and de-suckering banana plants.
• Planting and maintaining banana crops.
• Irrigation installation and maintenance.
• Lawful farm duties as directed by the Team Leader, Supervisor or Farm Manager. Packing Shed Duties Duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Hanging banana bunches.
• De-handing, grading, sorting and packing bananas.
• Packing banana cartons.
• Stacking cartons and preparing fruit for dispatch.
• General packing shed duties as directed. Employees will be expected to perform any lawful and reasonable duties within the scope of their employment as directed by their Team Leader, Supervisor or Farm Manager. Applicant Requirements Applicants must:
• Be physically fit and capable of performing repetitive manual labour.
• Be reliable, punctual and self-motivated.
• Be able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Be willing to work outdoors in tropical conditions and all weather conditions.
• Be available to work weekends as rostered.
• Follow all lawful and reasonable directions.
• Comply with all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
• Follow workplace policies and procedures.
• Treat all co-workers with respect and professionalism, regardless of race, culture, gender or background.
• Available to work on a rostered basis between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday to Sunday, including weekends. Previous experience in banana farming or horticulture is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. A current driver's licence is advantageous but not essential.
