Audit Support Analyst

Job description

Your new company

Join a well-established financial services organisation with a strong governance and compliance framework. As part of a collaborative finance function, you will play a key role in supporting a critical annual external audit process, working closely with stakeholders across finance, operations, claims and premium administration teams. This is a six-month fixed-term opportunity based in Sydney with flexible working arrangements and an immediate start available.

Your new role

  • Act as the primary point of coordination between external auditors and internal business stakeholders during the annual audit process.
  • Manage and track audit sample requests across premium and claims transactions, ensuring documentation is gathered accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Liaise with Finance, Claims, Customer Service and other operational teams to obtain supporting information and resolve outstanding audit requests.
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and provide supporting evidence for audit testing.
  • Investigate exceptions, unusual transactions and reconciling items, following through until satisfactory resolution is achieved.
  • Maintain audit trackers and provide regular status updates on outstanding requests and key deliverables.
  • Escalate delays, risks or roadblocks where required to support successful audit completion.
  • Provide administrative support for governance and board-related activities throughout the audit cycle.
  • Support post-audit reviews and contribute to process improvements that enhance future audit readiness

What you'll need to succeed

  • CA/CPA qualification or equivalent.
  • Approximately 3-4 years' experience within financial accounting, financial reporting, audit or a related discipline.
  • Experience preparing financial statements and supporting external audit engagements.
  • Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, controls and audit requirements.
  • Exposure to financial services, insurance or other regulated industries will be highly regarded.
  • Confidence working directly with auditors and managing relationships with stakeholders across multiple business functions.
  • Ability to influence and obtain information from teams where competing priorities or resistance may exist.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced Excel and document management capabilities.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Resilient, proactive and committed to achieving outcomes, with a strong attention to detail and follow-through.

What you'll get in return

  • Six-month fixed-term contract with an immediate start.
  • Up to $520 per day plus super, depending on experience.
  • Flexible working arrangements within a supportive and collaborative environment.
  • Exposure to a significant annual audit program within a respected financial services organisation.
  • Opportunity to work closely with experienced finance leaders, auditors and key business stakeholders.
  • A role well suited to qualified accountants seeking contract experience, including professionals travelling or relocating to Australia.
  • Potential pathway to future opportunities within the organisation, subject to business requirements and performance
