What you'll be doing The Assistant in Nursing works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse to support the delivery of safe, person-centred care to consumers in an acute mental health setting. The role assists the multidisciplinary team in implementing care plans, observing and reporting changes in consumers' physical and mental state, and contributing to a therapeutic, safe, and recovery-oriented environment. The AIN provides practical and emotional support to consumers, promotes dignity and cultural respect, and responds appropriately to risk, distress, and behavioural challenges to achieve optimal consumer outcomes.

Selection Criteria

Current Health Service Assistant Certificate III (Acute Care) or equivalent, or having recent equivalent experience or have completed 1 or more year's training as an undergraduate nursing student.

Demonstrated understanding of delegation and ability to work within a plan of care under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse.

Demonstrated ability to provide person-centered care in a manner that respects the rights of individuals and groups in the context of a multi-disciplinary team.

Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. through the use of information technology, written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated capacity to identify and resolve conflict situations by managing own emotional responses and interacting with others in a personable and professional manner.

Evidence of participation in personal development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills.
