About the Role
Are you an empathetic clinical, allied health, or education professional with a knack for deep listening and clinical reasoning?
Our Federal Government client is launching a national testing program and is seeking agile, high-performing professionals to join them as Support Needs Assessors. In this role, you will conduct comprehensive support needs assessments via semi-structured, conversational interviews with NDIS participants.
You will be responsible for reviewing files, conducting virtual or face-to-face assessments, and writing high-quality, strengths-based reports that clearly capture a participant's life situation and needs. Please note: This role focuses strictly on assessment and reporting; you will not make funding, budget, or support hour determinations.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct and Synthesise Assessments: Gather information directly from participants and their representatives, analysing and interpreting external evidence to make evidence-based recommendations. Report Writing & Case Management: Prepare clear, accurate, objective, and defensible written assessment reports using digital case management tools.
Person-Centred Communication: Communicate clearly, respectfully, and empathetically through both face-to-face and virtual channels, utilising trauma-informed and culturally aware approaches.
Collaboration & Escalation: Work across teams to support planning processes, identifying and escalating complex risks or policy limitations when necessary.

Skills & Experience Required:
We are looking for a diverse mix of backgrounds. To be successful, you must have:

Mandatory Qualifications: A recognised tertiary qualification in Allied Health (such as Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Social Work, Counselling, Dietetics, etc.) or a relevant clinical/educational discipline (RN, EN, Education degree, or Behaviour Support Practitioner). Note: Students part-way through their qualifications who possess significant, recent assessment experience may also be considered.
Assessment Expertise: Proven experience administering support needs assessments or utilizing person-centred/strengths-based assessment frameworks. Experience with semi-structured interviews is highly regarded.
Communication & Writing: Advanced interpersonal skills to navigate complex, sensitive conversations, paired with strong analytical writing skills to produce clear, defensible reports.
Clinical Practice: A deep commitment to trauma-informed, culturally safe, and person-centered practices.
Tech Literacy: Digital literacy to navigate CRM case management systems and conduct video meetings (e.g., Microsoft Teams).

What We Offer & Team Culture

Comprehensive Training: A 3-week initial structured training and accreditation program (facilitated and self-paced), followed by immersive coaching to get you up to speed quickly.
A Supportive Environment: You will join a collaborative, geographically structured team. We champion a "courageous" and high-performing culture that heavily prioritizes staff wellbeing through team meetings, dedicated "green rooms" for Q&A, and 1:1 coaching.
Flexible Arrangements: Enjoy hybrid and remote working flexibility.
