An exciting opportunity to join a State Government Department who work across diverse environments and help develop industries to meet growing demands.
They are currently seeking a AO3 Project Support Officer to engage in a full-time temporary contract. The experienced candidate will form part of a dedicated team until June 2027, based in Cairns.
Your new role
As part of this opportunity, your key tasks and responsibilities will be the following-
- Assist in the creation of jobs and supporting materials for field and canine operational and proactive activities.
- Creation and analysis of GIS data to assist field teams, document field effort, and inform decision-making.
- Assist the operations team to achieve efficient and effective delivery of operational goals working under direct guidance form the operational s coordinator and in accordance with relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with Program staff and external stakeholders, including landholders, industry groups, government departments, commercial operators and traditional owners.
- Communicate appropriately in a variety of ways to deliver key Program information to facilitate operational activities.
- Comply with relevant workplace health and safety policies and procedures and strive for continuous improvement across the operational work environment.
- Under guidance, carry out risk-based decision making within day-to-day activities, including associated documentation/record keeping.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience in a similar position within Government or equivalent. You will have Strong organisational skills, time management and attention to detail skills. A current Open “c” class Drivers Licence.
Knowledge of Program field operations, and experience with Microsoft Office programs and GIS software such as ArcGIS would be highly desirable.
