Location: Hermannsburg, NT 0872 Salary: $80k plus 12% Superannuation Position: Full time, Permanent

Our client, Tjuwanpa Outstation Resource Centre (Aboriginal Corporation), plays a vital role in supporting the Western Arrarnta people across 37 outstations near Ntaria (Hermannsburg) in the Northern Territory.

Since its establishment in 1984, Tjuwanpa has been responsible for administering government-funded programs relating to housing, water infrastructure, electricity, and employment services across the region. The organisation is recognised for its strong governance, effective financial management, and commitment to supporting Indigenous communities through sustainable and transparent operations.

Tjuwanpa is currently seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounts Clerk to support its finance and administrative functions. This role is critical in maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with day-to-day accounting processes, and ensuring compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements in a remote operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions in a timely and accurate manner
  • Prepare and reconcile invoices, purchase orders, and payment records
  • Maintain financial records, ledgers, and supporting documentation
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow transactions
  • Support payroll processing and maintain employee payment records
  • Prepare basic financial reports and assist with monthly and annual reporting requirements
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial procedures and relevant regulatory standards
  • Liaise with suppliers, staff, and external stakeholders regarding financial matters
  • Assist in budgeting processes and tracking of program expenditures
  • Maintain accurate filing systems for financial documentation
  • Support audits by preparing required documentation and reports
  • Perform general administrative duties related to finance operations

Qualifications and Experience:

  • AQF Certificate III in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a related field
  • Alternatively, at least ONE year of relevant work experience in an accounts or finance role
  • Previous experience in accounts payable/receivable or general accounting functions
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit or community-based organisation (desirable)

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information
  • Effective communication skills and ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote environment
