Due to continued business growth, Build Tiny Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and trade-qualified Welder (First Class) to join its production team.

Working within a modern manufacturing environment, you will fabricate and weld structural steel and metal components used in the construction of custom-built tiny homes. The successful applicant will be capable of working from engineering drawings, maintaining high quality standards and contributing to efficient production schedules. This is a full-time position offering long-term career opportunities within a growing Australian manufacturer.

Minimum Requirements

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (or equivalent qualification)
  • Minimum one-year relevant post-qualification experience as a Welder (First Class)
  • Demonstrated experience in MIG and TIG welding and general steel fabrication
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication plans
  • Strong understanding of fabrication tolerances and quality control procedures
  • Commitment to workplace health and safety

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality MIG, TIG and other welding processes on structural steel, stainless steel and aluminium components used in tiny home construction.
  • Fabricate, assemble and weld chassis, structural frames, brackets and other metal components in accordance with engineering drawings and production specifications.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols and fabrication documentation.
  • Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, drilling, milling, tapping and shaping steel components prior to fabrication.
  • Measure, mark and accurately align components using precision measuring equipment.
  • Inspect welds to ensure structural integrity, penetration, dimensional accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
  • Complete finishing work including grinding, dressing, polishing and deburring fabricated components.
  • Assist in fitting fabricated steel assemblies into modular building frames where required.
  • Operate welding and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently while ensuring machinery is maintained in good working condition.
  • Identify fabrication issues and work collaboratively with supervisors and production staff to achieve practical manufacturing solutions.
  • Maintain welding procedure specifications, quality assurance documentation and production records.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Contribute to achieving daily production targets while maintaining high standards of workmanship.

To be successful you will possess

  • Demonstrated structural steel fabrication and welding experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Excellent fabrication, welding and metal finishing skills.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritise work and consistently meet production deadlines.
  • Sound understanding of Australian workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Physical fitness suitable for a manufacturing environment involving manual handling and standing for extended periods.
